LATIMORE TOWNSHIP PARK BOARD MINUTES

 

September 3, 2008

 

The advertised regular monthly meeting of the Latimore Township Park Board was held on September3, 2008 at the Latimore Township Park at 711Pondtown Rd, York Springs, PA 17372.  The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman Woody Myers.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

In Attendance:  Chairman Woody Myers, Vice Chairman Mark Schoppaul, Field Maintenance Robert Garlin, Field Maintenance, Secretary/Financial Lynn Schoppaul and Member Casey Coble.

 

Absent:  Field and League Facilitator Michael Patterson,

                                                                                                                                              

Minutes of the August 6th, 2008 meeting were approved as read.   

 

Status of Park Board accounts:  PLGIT             $4,321.48

                                                    Grant               $1,011.13

 

Old Business:         

 

1.        Playground installation – Six loads of stone for the playground have been delivered totaling 136 tons.  The best mulch prices received were $14.50, $17.00, $18.45, per 100 cubic yard, delivered.  We would need approximately 400 cubic yards.  Prices for safety mats are still being researched.  Prices range from $90 to $160.00.  Terry Dougherty has volunteered to assist in spreading the stone. 

 

2.        Motorcycle Ride – Robert Garlin handed out the route of the ride.  The ride will be 59.3 miles, and takes a little more 1 ˝ hours.  40 Plaques have been ordered and will be here in 3 days.  A motion by Mark Schoppaul, 2nd by Robert Garlin, to pay for the plaques, passed.  Lake Mead Fire Department will cook the food.   Robert Garlin is still pursuing donations of food, but has no commitments.  A donation of $25.00 toward the costs has been received from William Wessels Used Cars, Inc.  Robert Garlin is arranging the people for traffic control.  A video will be shot at various places along the ride, including the start and the end.  There will be an article in the Gettysburg Times and an advertizement in the Dillsburg Banner.  Lynn Schoppaul had Hoss’s Community Day cards and stickers to put on them.  They will be brought to the ride. 

 

3.        Contract for 2009 Field Use – At the work meeting in August, Michael Patterson volunteered to work on a draft of the new agreement.  Work on the agreement was tabled until the next meeting, due to his absence.

 

 

New Business:

 

1.     Pavilion Rentals – The Pavilion is rented out September 16th, 21st and 28th.  One group has said the Park Board is to keep the deposit as a donation.  The pavilion will be cleaned prior to each rental.

 

       

       

 

Bills List:  A motion by Mark Schoppaul, 2nd by Casey Coble, to pay the bills passed.
