The advertised regular monthly meeting of the Latimore Township Park Board was held on October 5, 2005 at the Latimore Township Building at 559 Old U.S. Route 15 York Springs, PA 17372. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman Samuel
Giardullo
Pledge of Allegiance
In attendance: Chairman Samuel Giardullo, Vice Chairman and Financial Secretary Elwood Myers, Secretary Lynn Schoppaul and
Member Mark Schoppaul
Absent: League Facilitator Robert Descheemaeker, Michael Juliana, Field and Safety Robert Garlin
Minutes of the September 7, 2005 meeting were approved as read.
Status of the Park Board Account: $6,864.68.
Old Business:
1. Chairman Samuel Giardullo informed the board that the grant application for playground equipment, walking/biking
trails and fencing has been submitted to DCNR. A motion by Lynn Schoppaul, second by Mark Schoppaul, to
request the township supervisors allocate a 5% increase in funds budgeted to the park, to be used toward funding the
Park Board's portion of the grant, should it be awarded and for driveway/parking lot improvements, passed.
2. Park Day update: The fire departments, police, Apple Core Band and antique tractor owners participated as
requested in Park Day. The helicopters cancelled, only two yard sales slots were filled, and no ride operators
participated. Recommendations for next year include start organizing earlier, possibly change the date due
to conflicting events, arrange for better attractions and better advertising, including the Spring Township Newsletter.
Also, contact organizations in the area and make the focus a Community Day rather than Park Day.
New Business:
1. The resignation of Michael Juliana was accepted by the Chairman.
2. The nomination of Michael Patterson to fulfill the remainder of the term vacated by Michael Juliana was accepted
by the board.
3. Winter preparation projects at the park were discussed. The township secretary will be asked to have the portable
toilet and dumpster removed after November 15th. The light timer needs to be reset and the tractor needs to be
winterized.
4. A discussion of possible fundraising events followed. Ideas included band concerts by some of the Bermudian High
School bands, movies in the park with food sales, car shows.
5. A $200.00 donation was received from Wolf's Bus Line towards the surveillance system. A thank you letter will be sent.
