LATIMORE TOWNSHIP PARK BOARD MINUTES

March 5, 2008

The advertised regular monthly meeting of the Latimore Township Park Board was held on March 5, 2008 at the Latimore Township Building at 559 Old U.S. Route 15, York Springs, PA 17372.  The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman Elwood Myers.

Pledge of Allegiance

In Attendance:  Chairman Elwood Myers, Vice Chairman Mark Schoppaul, Field Maintenance Robert Garlin, Field Maintenance and Secretary/Financial Lynn Schoppaul.

Absent:  Ass’t. League Facilitator Robert Descheemaker, Field and League Facilitator Michael Patterson

Minutes of the February 13 ^th, 2008 meeting were approved as read.   

Status of Park Board accounts:  Park Account - $248.96     

                                                    DCNR Account - $1,011.13

Old Business:         

1. Playground installation – Robert Garlin reported that Jeff McClintock is working on getting the concrete donations.  Once the weather improves, work can start again.  Work is scheduled for Friday evening to fix the fencing around the playground. 

2.     Two trees and10-14 bushes are available as donations for the park.  Chairman Myers will work with the township road crew to arrange to pick them up. 

3.     Robert Garlin purchased the mower parts and they are at the park.

New Business:

1.     Latin Soccer league called Chairman Myers to let him know they want to play on the field Sunday, March 9^th.  The secretary will contact Michael Patterson about contacting the gentleman who called. 

2.     Chairman Myers has ordered the portable toilet to be delivered this week. 

3.     Mowing Schedule – Mark Schoppaul will work on the mowing schedule and will email it to the township secretary.

4.     Terms of Service – A motion to re-appoint Elwood Myers, Robert Descheemaker and Lynn Schoppaul to new 5 year terms on the Park Board, from 2008 through 2012 by Mark Schoppaul, 2^nd Robert Garlin, passed. 

5.     Mark Schoppaul read a list of maintenance projects for the park for this year. 

6.     New township resident Casey Coble expressed an interest in joining the park board.  Her background is in horticulture, she works for a landscaping company and has worked on park and playground projects in the past.  She would like to use her experience to help the park board.  A motion by Mark Schoppaul, 2^nd Robert Garlin, to appoint Casey Coble to the park board to fill the vacant position, passed. 

Bills List:  A motion by Mark Schoppaul, 2^nd Robert Garlin, to pay the bills passed.

Public Participation:   None

Next meeting:  April 2, 2008 at the park, if possible

Adjournment:  A motion to adjourn by Lynn Schoppaul, 2^nd by Robert Garlin, passed.
