LATIMORE TOWNSHIP PARK BOARD MINUTES

 

July 2, 2008

 

The advertised regular monthly meeting of the Latimore Township Park Board was held on July 2, 2008 at the Latimore Township Building at 559 Old U.S. Route 15, York Springs, PA 17372.  The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman Woody Myers.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

In Attendance:  Chairman Woody Myers, Vice Chairman Mark Schoppaul, Field Maintenance Robert Garlin, Field Maintenance, Secretary/Financial Lynn Schoppaul, Member Casey Coble, and Field and League Facilitator Michael Patterson.

 

Absent:  Ass’t. League Facilitator Robert Descheemaker

                                                                                                                                              

Minutes of the June 4th, 2008 meeting were approved as read.   

 

Status of Park Board accounts:  No Financial report.

 

Old Business:         

 

1.        Playground installation – The 2-5 Yr module and swings frame are ready to be cemented in.  The backhoe is needed to level the 5-12 Yr swing frame.  Terry Dougherty is going to get the cement for the playground at the least cost possible.  Thursday, July 3rd, will be another work night at the park to level the big swing frame. 

 

2.        Motorcycle Ride – Flyers were handed out for the ride.  Lake Mead Fire Company will cook the food for the ride.  They will also follow the ride with their squad to provide emergency services, if necessary.  Police Chief Mike Weigands will lead the ride.  Robert Garlin will also accompany the ride, at the front, to be sure the intersections are covered for traffic control.  He will have his truck and trailer for break-downs and will carry extra gasoline.  A motion by Mark Schoppaul, 2nd Robert Garlin, to get plaques made with a picture of the Chief’s motorcycle to be given out to the volunteers, passed.

 

3.        Mowing – Now that the Lacrosse league season is over, those fields will need to be mowed by the board members for the rest of the season. 

 

 

New Business:

 

1.        Contract for 2009 Field Use – Examples of contracts will be obtained from other entities as examples.  Due to scheduling problems, the proposed meeting to work on this will be moved to Monday, August 6th at the park at 7:00 PM.

 

2.        A motion by Mark Schoppaul, 2nd by Robert Garlin, to move Robert Descheemaker to associate board member status, passed.  Robert Garlin reported that he has spoken to a resident who is interested in working on the Park Board.  The board would like him to attend the August meeting. 

 

3.        Chairman Woody Myers requested that the August and September meetings be moved to the Park.  A motion by Michael Patterson, 2nd by Mark Schoppaul, to move the August and September meetings to the park and for the township secretary to advertise the change, passed.  The meeting schedule for next year will be set to meet at the township building January through April, meet at the park May through September, and meet back at the township October through December. 

 

       

 

Bills List:  A motion by Mark Schoppaul, 2nd by Michael Patterson, to pay the bills passed.
