LATIMORE TOWNSHIP PARK BOARD MINUTES

 

April 2, 2008

 

The advertised regular monthly meeting of the Latimore Township Park Board was held on April 2, 2008 at the Latimore Township Building at 559 Old U.S. Route 15, York Springs, PA 17372.  The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman Woody Myers.

 

Pledge of Allegiance

 

In Attendance:  Chairman Woody Myers, Vice Chairman Mark Schoppaul, Field Maintenance Robert Garlin, Field Maintenance and Secretary/Financial Lynn Schoppaul.

 

Absent:  Ass’t. League Facilitator Robert Descheemaker, Field and League Facilitator Michael Patterson, Member Casey Coble.

                                                                                                                                              

Minutes of the March 5th, 2008 meeting were approved as read.   

 

Status of Park Board accounts:  Park Account - $1,148.22

                                                    DCNR Account - $1,011.13

 

Old Business:         

 

1.        Playground installation – Robert Garlin reported that Jeff McClintock is working on arranging for concrete.  A work/planning meeting is scheduled at the park Friday at 6:00 PM.

 

2.     Shrubs & Trees – The road crew will be getting the trees & shrubs.  The placement of the tree will be determined Friday evening so that it can be planted as soon as they can pick it up.

 

3.     Lawn Mowers - The old Gravely mower will be brought back to the township building, and the Steiner will be taken to the park shed. 

 

4.     Soccer & Lacrosse – The status of the Latin league’s use of the field is unknown at this time.  Michael Patterson told chairman Myers that he was waiting for them to get back to him.  At this point, they are not using the fields.  The soccer and lacrosse leagues who reserved the fields are using the fields as scheduled. 

 

 

New Business:

 

1.     Mowing Schedule – A mowing schedule was passed out to the board members.

 

2.     Maintenance – Mark Schoppaul will talk with Casey Coble about what kind of maintenance needs to done on the fields.  The baseball field needs a lot of work, and once the weeds have been removed from the infield, it will need new sand put down.

 

3.     Robert Garlin told the board of a motorcycle ride for fund raiser.  A possible fee schedule to ride would be $10.00 for the bike and driver, $5.00 per additional rider.  The ride would start at a motorcycle dealer in the mid-state, and end at the park, with food provided to all participants.  Advertising would be for a ride to raise money for children’s equipment at the park.  Robert Garlin would work with the Chief of Police on the details of the route, fire police involvement, and when.  A motion by Mark Schoppaul, 2nd by Robert Garlin, to make arrangements with Chief Weigands for a motorcycle ride fund raiser passed.

 

 

 

Bills List:  A motion by Robert Garlin, 2nd by Mark Schoppaul, to pay the bills passed.
