COMMUNITY CRIME WATCH ASSOCIATION

Minutes of 5/23/2002


7:30 p.m.

     The second meeting of the Latimore Township/York Springs Community Crime Watch Association, was called to order by Myron Bird, at the Lake Meade Fire Company.

     Officer Mike Weigand read the minutes of April 25. The minutes were approved by membership.
     Officer Weigand then read the Treasurers report by Treasurer Stew Fink.

     Membership voted and accepted a savings account opened in the Adams County National Bank under the name of Latimore Township/York Springs Community Crime Watch Association. The balance of this savings account is $145.00.

     Officer Weigand explained the Crime Watch program and reiterated the information discussed at our previous meeting. The videotape of neighbors becoming neighbors through the Crime Watch program was viewed. Many questions were asked of the Crime Watch Program and answered by Officer Weigand. Discussion was held on how a Citizen's Group will bring the communities together.

     Officer Weigand held a "Needs Assessment" with member participation. Three (3) "Needs" were discussed:
1. Speeding
2. Awareness education
3. Visibility of the Police Department

     In general discussion, it was decided, that future meetings will be held on the last Thursday of each month with the meeting of June 27, 2002 being held at the York Springs Fire Company at 7:30 p.m.

     The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m. by Officer Weigand.
